RAHEL NAHELY

As the days grow shorter and the world outside becomes quieter, warmth, spending time together and listening to stories begin to hold a special place again. With Winter Tales, I tell a selection of winter and Christmas stories in English — stories to curl up with and listen to together, for children and grown-ups alike, for a quiet moment at home or on the way. If you enjoy hearing stories in Swiss German, you may also like Wintergschichtä, the Swiss German edition of the series.

Maybe you listen to them while walking through a winter forest. Maybe you are sitting in a cosy cabin somewhere in the snow-covered mountains, in a little den you built in your room at home in the city, or even in a country far away from Switzerland.

I love imagening that very different people in very different places might be listening to the same story. People who may never meet -  and who, through that story, still share something for a little while. Because stories can move us, awaken memories, spark our imagination and create something that can sometimes get lost in everyday life: a sense of connection and comfort — and that precious moment of simply being.

For Winter Tales, I have selected five stories — one for each Sunday of Advent and one for Christmas Day. They are suitable for listeners from around the age of five. The stories have been chosen so that younger children can feel safe and at ease with them, without becoming too dark or frightening. At the same time, they are full of beauty, wonder and adventure, making them just as enjoyable for adults.

I hope you have a beautiful time with these stories — wherever you listen to them, and whoever you share that moment with.
